Shklov District Historical and Regional Studies Museum

The museum is founded on 27 June 1990. On 1 September 2007, the halls of the museum were open for visitors. A unique peculiarity of Shklov is that during its history the town changed its location three times and each time it acquired specific features in its development. These events are reflected in the exposition section "Shklov Medieval History". In the district, there are current archaeological excavations, the findings of which are given to the museum and the most significant are presented in the exposition. The permanent exposition "Shklov from Ancient Times to the Present" has seven sections. The most significant are the collections of archaeological objects (a mammoth tooth, a body cross of the 11th century, a medallion of the 12th century, coins of the 12th-13th centuries, ornaments of the 11th-12th centuries, pottery of the 14th-7th centuries, etc.). The total number of the items in the main fund is 7,022 on 1 January 2012. The museum is the center for research, cultural and educational and local history works. On the basis of the museum, there is "The Belarusian Voluntary Public Association for Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Shklov", the search group "Memorial", the reseacrh and creative association "Know and Like Your Homeland". There are sightseeing tours around the city and the district: "The City Where We Live" and "Small Homeland". The museum includes three branches: "P.
